Working of Inductor
Working of Inductor.
Lets say we have inductor connected to some current source.
So as current passes through coil , it creates magnetic field
Hence the electrical energy is stored in form magnetic energy . Now later on this magnetic energy can be converted to electrical energy and can be used to supply current to a particular element
Ampere’s Law
It state that if we have a current moving through a conductor , it generates a circular magnetic field around conductor, whose direction can be determined by Right hand rule. the following pictures show the direction of magnetic fields
In figure A the current is moving towards us or out of the page, using right hand rule. the following magnetic pattern will be obtained.
Figure B shows the same rule, when current is moving away from us , or inside the page

Magnetic Field in Inductor
Lets say we have a inductor in which current is passing, in the following direction as represented by yellow arrow
Now if we notice, the current direction can be divided in to parts. on the bottom side the current is coming towards us and on the top side it is going away from us , due to the loop structure inductor
Hence we can easily represent it by our arrow head and tail conventional method of representing direction
Understanding Magnetic Field behavior : we have already studied that what type of behavior and pattern and direction does current generate when , we have current coming out of page and in to page . So we will take only once curve to understand the phenomena, the same phenomena will be happening in other turns as well.
Note that inside the conductor.
- · Magnetic fields are in parallel line inside a conductor.
- · They booth loops are pointing in same direction inside a conductor , hence they are supporting each other.
This stored magnetic energy now forces induced current to flow in one direction
